[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Monitor for VGA and Mac II

We need a monitor that we can connect either to a VGA card or to a
MAC II. I am given to believe that such beasts exist. Has anyone had
experience with this? I would be grateful for such information.

I've used both NEC Multisync Plus and XL (19") monitors on a Mac II with
a SuperMac Spectrum video card. (The Spectrum card came with a cable
that connected to the BNC video connectors on the back of the monitors.)
I've also used both monitors with an Orchid Designer VGA card in a PC. The
VGA connected to the 9-pin d-connector on the monitor. I even used both
types of computer with one monitor for a while, switching "input" sources
with a front-panel switch on the monitor. Other than the rather high
prices of the monitors, this has worked out just fine for us.

There was an article about color monitors for Mac II machines in MacUser
magazines during mid to late 1988 which rated several different "multisync"
monitors for Mac II use. From what I recall (not having the issue handy),
the multisync monitors were the same models commonly used with VGA's, including
Sony 130x models as well as the NEC's I've cited.

The dealer who sold us the SumerMac video card was helpful. Have
you asked your Mac II dealer what monitors will work with your video card?
