I have recently joined the funfilled world of pc use and with much
mainframe experience find myself at a loss on the pc. Specifically
my problem is in running some software downloaded from BBS's.
The problem arises on sw that requires a termcap file (containing
escape sequences?), i have followed all instructions on the set up
in these files, yet instead of running the command in the escape
sequence it prints the escape sequence char.'s onto the screen, needless
to say it makes the sw unusable.Instructions usually include device=ansi.sys
in the config file,but differ from that point on .My system is an AT clone
(640k,2flop.,everex graphics card, and mono. mon.) i have gotten the sw to
run on one NEC apc IV with color monitor yet it does not on what i assume
is an identical machine.I don't know if this is too sketchy for all you
pc guru's but any help would be appreciated .
