The University of New Mexico is a campus of about 25,000 students and we are considering moving beginning programming classes to a microcomputer environment. In doing such, there are many questions and would like to receive comments from other schools who have attempted this. Specifically, 1. What configuration do other schools have for their low level courses; Specifically, what is your computing environment used to support classes such as basic, fortran, pascal, and beginning engineering graphics. 2. What do schools which use micros with hard disks do about security of software? 3. If you currently use a microcomputer lab for the above, any comments on its success or failure as well as any other points would be appreciated.
