I am trying to install Oracle version 5.1A onto a PS2/80. The software was originally bought for an AT with a floppy disk drive. My machine uses high density 3.5 inch disks. I copied 4 floppies/ 3.5 inch disk, then tried to install the Oracle. It became obvious that the installation program looks at the label of each disk that is inserted into a disk drive in response to its prompting. Because of this, as I read in the 1st three floppies worth from 1 high density 3.5 inch disk, I have to go to a machine that has a floppy drive( but a small hard disk) and change the label on this disk that contains 4 floppies' worth to be the same as each floppy's label as it is needed. This works fine until I get to the 4th disk, which is the 3rd disk of the section named RDBMS. Disks 2 - 5 of RDBMS seem to have the same label. When I leave the label on the high density 3.5 inch disk the same between the 2nd and 3rd "disks" of the group, the installation program complains that I have inserted the wrong disk. Copying the 3rd floppy's worth onto a separate 3.5 inch disk doesn't fix the problem. "Comp" tells me that the files are the same (though ?missing an eof...)Using some utilitie in PCtools, someone helped me dump the labels from the original and the 3.5 inch copy. They are the same. What other identifier on the disk might the installation program be looking for? .
