Does anyone out there in net-land use a VCR as a PC tape-storage device?
How do you like it?
What's the transfer-rate & storage capacity of a T120 cassette?
Where can I get a AT-bus controller card & how much is it?
If possible, reply by mail & I'll summarize.
Thanks in advance for any and all info.

Greg,
Not me, but a friend of mine uses the system known as
VIDEOTRAX. This can be bought in two ways. 1) With just a controller
card that you plug into a slot and then plug your VCR into it. 2) With
the controller AND their own VCR (made by SHARP, I believe) with some
special circuitry added that allows it to controlled by the software
instead of having to press PLAY or REWIND, etc.
The speed on it is S L O W. I don't know the exact
times but, its not a pretty sight. The 'trax can do a file-by-file or
image backup of your hard disk. PC Magazine had a review of it in an
older backup issue. (not '88). If you don't mind the speed of it,
consider it. My own preference is to spend the $100 or so more to get
a tape backup.

Eric, can you tell me more about using a vcr to back up? Send it to me
via local mail.
Much appreciated.
