I am working with an automotive parts manufacturer startup company. We need to find an MRP system that is integrated with bar codes. We'd prefer a PC based nework, but are pretty open to anything right now. The plant is going to be on a JIT system, shipping up to 4,000 parts per day. Orders come from GM's computer and must be manufactured and shipped within one or two hours. As a result, the ability to scan bar codes as the product is shipped is critical to maintaining the inventory and financial files. We have a very short deadline--less than three months until the first product will ship--and we need a glitch-free system (hah!) by then. Comfortingly, if we bomb out, we're only closing down an entire GM truck plant waiting for our parts. I'd like to start evaluating potential software yesterday, and I'd appreciate email from anyone with info on an appropriate MRP/financial/manufacturing system.
