Last year I used TurboTax to do my taxes, and I saved all my data in a *RC file which I then backed up with PC-Fullbak. I did not save hardcopy of all my forms and schedules because I knew I could always get to them if I needed to. Ha! Last night I tried to restore those diskettes, and good ole PC-Fullbak gave me sector read errors all over the place. It couldn't restore the disks it had written! When I called Westlake Data tech support I was told there is nothing they can do. They have no utility for reading disks which PC-Fullbak wrote but can't itself read! Since they use a proprietary format, the person on the other end of the phone basically indicated I was SOL. I'm looking at the back of their manual where it says "easy, reliable, fast" -- I suppose 2 out of 3 wasn't bad, but I wish that reliability wasn't the one they gave up! Anyone have any clues as to how to get that data back? Any programs know how to vary the drive motor speed or something to get the stuff read correctly. My accountant and I would be eternally grateful.... al finger abf@rti.rti.org
