I recently was shown a very interesting new product idea by a couple of local guys starting a garage business to sell it. It is called "REMOTE PC" and it is a hardware box that can be used to remotely turn on a PC and enable it to answer a phone call. The equipment is turned on by the incoming call. The computer then boots up and a modem program can be activated via insertion into the AUTOEXEC file. Nothing happens until a subsequent call which must be within a specified time period or the equipment shuts down. The subsequent call will be intercepted by an active communication program which will check the password and if correct will permit access to the computer. After the communication activity ceases, "REMOTE PC" turns off the computer. They said something about charging $180 for the device. If you write Spectrum General 177 Broadway Clark, NJ 07066 they can provide you a copy of their documentation.
