[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Simple Minded Question

kweeder@sunny1.che.clarkson.edu (Jim Kweeder) (03/08/89)

Here's an easy one (I hope). I bought a keyboard extension cable, but
it's producing a clock line fault when installed. My thought is that
the cable is wired wrong. I've metered the bugger and all of the pins
go through without shorting. The one thing that didn't read through
was the metal outside on each plug. I've always thought that the outside
on the plugs was part of the shield and should be connected. So,
if anyone has a definitive answer to this one, I'd appreciate hearing
from you. Please use e-mail: this group doesn't need a increase in
traffic.

Thanks,
