Does anyone out there have any experience concerning the various graphics toolkits on the market (e.g. HALO, GraphiC, MetaaWINDOW)? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Loving loving@lanai.cs.ucla.edu . . . {hplabs,ucbvax,uunet}!cs.ucla.edu!loving -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a demonstration copy of GraphiC. It puts up a WYSIWYG display on my Hercules screen (a large of number of display protocols are supported) and the printer output to a 9 pin printer (e.g. Epson FX80) is very high. The printer output quality was very impressive, better than you'd expect from a 9 pin. However, a year ago I switched to a 24 pin printer and could no longer screen dump. A consultant from GraphiC said it just wasn't available (this was year ago, however). I also bought their manual, which describes the various C functions for producing graphics and example main programs. Plus, the source code of all functions are supplied with the package. Basically I was very impressed. However, I was deterred by the price (~$400) and the amount of programming that would be necessary to use it.
