To all you people looking for PC-related French tools, here's some info
obtained from the IBM ISAAC server machine:
1) Systeme-D: Writing assistant for French (date of info 14-Sep-88)

Systeme-D is a French Composition tool for intermediate to advanced
students as well as for highly motivated second-semester beginning
students. The program provides a basic word-processor as well as lexical,
grammmatical, and functional information derived from such sources as
Francais Fondamental word list, the Threshold Level studies of the Council
of Europe, and the lexical and grammatical contents of introductory college
French texts. There is a 4,400 word bilingual dictionary, .25 million verb
forms, etc.
Systeme-D is published by Heinle and Heinle Publishers, Inc., Boston, MA;
$150.00 for individual copies, site licenses start at $300.00
Systeme-D was one of the winners of the 1988 EDUCOM/NCRIPTAL Higher
Education Awards.
2) JET:SPELL, multilingual spell-checker (date of info 17-Oct-88)
Multilingual spelling checker that has nine user-tailorable dictionaries of
unlimited size in which to store terms and names particular to the user's
work. It supports WordStar, WordPerfect, and ASCII files. Availabe
language dictionaries include:
American
Danish
Dutch
English
French
German
Italian
Norwegian
Spanish
Swedish
Jet: Spell Multilingual System Disk w/one dictionary is $109.95. Each

Personally, I have not had any experience with either of these systems.
I'm not sure how accented and other characters are dealt with in the
spell-checkers, but I'm sure that's a major concern with multilingual
checking and is dealt with appropriately.
Now, can anyone point me to something like the above for Macintosh systems?
(not on comp.sys.ibm.pc of course :-)
