[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Commodore printer on a PC?

ed@iitmax.IIT.EDU (Ed Federmeyer) (03/09/89)

I would like to hook up my old Commdore MPS-802 near letter quality
dot matrix printer to my new PC clone. Commodore printers, unfortunatly,
do not use the standard IBM serial or parallel ports. They use a modified
(serialized) version of the IEEE-488 buss.

I would imagine that SOMEWHERE there has to be a company that makes a board
for the PC that will allow one to use a C= printer on a PC. (Ideally it
should convert PC-ASCII character codes into PET-ASCII codes.) Printing
graphics is not necessary, but if it did allow this, it would be used
and appreciated!

*PLEASE* if you have any leads, E-mail them to me. If there is enough
of a response, I will post a follow-up to this group.

Thanks,
