[comp.sys.ibm.pc] toshiba 1100+ peripherals

hadden@ella.SRC.Honeywell.COM (George D. Hadden) (03/10/89)

hi, i have three questions:

1) what's the latest version of ms-dos available for the toshiba 1100+
and where can i get it for the least amount of money?

2) i know there are third party manufacturers for 5-1/4" disk drives
for this machine, but i don't know who they are. who are they? and
what do they charge? (i'm interested mainly in drives that plug into
the parallel port -- not the card cage (which i don't have).)

3) i need a new battery pack. it looks like the one in the machine is
really four nicad d-cells with some funny wiring all sealed in
shrinkwrap. the battery pack costs about $80 from toshiba; the
d-cells cost $10 at target. has anyone out there done this surgery
and created a new, working, cheap (notice the common theme beginning
to emerge here) toshiba 1100+ battery pack? if so, please give me
advice. if not, i'll be happy to share my experience whenever my busy
schedule calms down enough to let me give it a shot.

thanks in advance for any help you can give.
