First, thanx everybody for the flood of responses. The consensus is that it's no problem, except for one warning about Miniscribe disks. I include it below. Thanks again, -Mitch ------------------snip-------------------------------- From: Martin Forsberg ENDdec89BB <umf@ce.chalmers.se> I would just want to warn you from not using any Miniscribe drives standing on edge, either they get a lot of nasty read/write errors or they completely burn down. I've had both faults happen to me, the manufacturer just replaced my drives and said that they should work edgeways, but the same thing happened again, they could understand why I was angry at them, and I had no problem getting my money back from them. If you are going to use a drive sideways, be sure to get hold of a datasheet from the manufacturer where you actually can see a sketch over drive usage, they usually show the drive both standing and laying flat. Hope this helps you to not having any problems. | Martin Forsberg d4umf@dtek.chalmers.se | | PL 9003 Bueras or | | 43900 Onsala umf@cd.chalmers.se | | SWEDEN | ---------------snip------------------------------------ -- Mitch Hendrickson mhendric@jarthur.claremont.edu OR mhendric@jarthur.uucp OR uunet!jarthur!mhendric OR MHENDRICKOSN@HMCVAX (bitnet) USnail: Platt Campus Center, Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, CA 91711
