Many postings regarding OCRs have gone unanswered here. Finally, PC Magazine ( March 28, 1989 Volume 8 Number 6) has devoted an in-depth review into this illusive subject, under the father topic "Alternate Input" (p. 187). There is also a sequential narrative summary of "Omnipage: OCR Made Easy, Affordable" (p.38) and a brief insert "AutoRead Confers Optical Character Recognition on the Multilingual Office." The former is available on both Mac and IBM, and has the ability to translate TIFF files of multi-font, multi-column pages. The latter is capable of up to 200 cps conversion. --Chad Fogg
