[comp.sys.ibm.pc] BUS->Serial Mouse

neil@swdev.Waterloo.NCR.COM (Neil A. Law) (03/15/89)

I currently have a Microsoft mouse on my AT-clone at home and would like to
bring it to work to use on my PC with OS/2. My problem is that it is
a bus mouse and I'd rather not have to bring the board to and from work to use
it.

Is anyone aware of an adapter which would let me connect the bus mouse to the
serial port on my PC? I would prefer a commercially available solution, not
one I'd have to put together myself.

Thanks in advance.

Be warned that a bus mouse and a serial mouse are NOT 100% compatible,
even if you use the same mouse to plug into the computer. I can't
say for sure what the problem is, because I have yet to solve it. If
anyone knows more on this, I would appreciate your help.

I don't know about the MS Mouse, but the new MSC PC Mouse II is
identical whether you buy it as a serial or bus mouse. The card
supplied with the bus version seems to be just a serial port.
