I recently got a free EGA card (made by STB Systems, INC. It doesn't seem to mention a model number, but it is called EGA PLUS) :-) Unfortunatly, when I install it in my system (A cheapo-clono 10Mhz XT), my Prometheus ProModem 2400 starts acting up. :-( What happens is that I will be online for 5-10 minutes and after that, all I get is garbage. When I pick up the phone to listen to the modem, I get an AWFULL screeching noise (not the normal "white noise" sound of a modem). Now that I have taken the EGA card out of my system, it works fine... I have been connected to the school's computers for 6 hours now with *no* garbage characters at all! *** PLEASE *** If you have ANY ideas on what would cause this... let me know! Esp. if you work for STB or Prometheus... My system consists of: 1 CGA card / 1 STB EGA PLUS card (In TTL monochrome mode / multi I-O card (printer, serial, game, etc. ports) I'm sure I have all the DIP switches set properly... The system works FINE until I get online for more than 5-10 mins, after that, the modem won't work unless I reboot, but the rest of the system still works fine.
