The new fixed release is now shipping (I received my copy yesterday). They said that all registered owners of 5.1 will receive it automatically. So far I'm fairly impressed with the program, but disappointed in a couple of regards: it only runs in 25-line video mode, no 43 or 50 line displays are possible (I even called tech support about this one). That's a real drag. The programmer and algebraic calculators are very limited (4 function), but the financial is very spiffy. When I called tech support I left these as suggestions for improvement in the next version. Now maybe if we all do that we'll get the world's most usable program?! Running PCshell and PCdesktop resident causes conflicts with some of my TSR programs. By rebooting and testing I determined that filec was causing PCshell at least to fail to return control to DOS (hanging the system on exit). It still seems to fail occasionally (every 10th time?) which will be much harder to track. I miss filec already, but since I'm thinking about using desqview with QEMM-386 I probably won't run PCTools as resident anyway. Any other opinions? --Peter ------------------------------------------ -------------------------------- Peter Baer Galvin (203)432-1254 Senior Systems Programmer, Yale Univ.
