I'm looking for comments and experiences, good/bad/indifferent concerning IBM PS/2 Models 50Z and 60. We will be purchasing a small quantity of machines for secretarial use. They will be running Displaywrite 4 and an occasionally rare spreadsheet application. Terminal emulation and small file transfers will also be made using (most likely) kermit to our VAX running UNIX System V. Therefore, a high degree of reliability is required in the COM port. I've heard varying reports concerning disk drive reliability and speed and problems with the COM port, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience using either of these machines in a similar environment. These machines will be running DOS 4.0 (sigh) and will probably do little (if anything) else than that described above. I'm also optionally looking for some sort of terminal emulation hardware/software that will allow a PC (ATs and PS/2s) with a VGA monitor to access 132 columns by (at least) 24 rows. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "I enjoy working with human beings, and John M.
