[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Can I read PDP-11

manager@a.coe.wvu.wvnet.edu (Cris Fuhrman, Systems Manager) (03/17/89)

Salut,

Is there a program out there that will let me read 5.25" diskettes that
were written on a PDP-11 running RT-11? It's the same low-level format as
a DEC Rainbow, but the file allocation table et. al. is not the same so I
can't access files easily. I'd like to be able to copy files from a PDP-11
to a PC using 5.25" floppy diskettes.

-Cris

Aside from the program to interpret the RT-11 file system, you'll have
to have a computer with an 80-track drive. The RX11 diskettes are
single-sided, 80 tracks, 10 sectors per track (at least they are on the
Rainbow).

Xenosoft sells Xenocopy for $80 - it handles MANY formats: CP/M, Radio Shack
Color Computer, etc. Don't know about the RT-11 disks, but they can answer
your questions. Check the ads in BYTE - they advertise about every other month
