I have a PS/2-70* which has 1 Meg of memory installed. I am using DOS 3.3 on the system. When I power the PC on, the memory check only goes up to 896K before starting to boot the machine. When I use the diagnostics disk to look at the configuration of the machine, it shows total memory as 1 Meg, but also shows 896K as "usable memory". I was not able to change the 896K parameter with the diagnostics diskette. Do you have any ideas as to how to access the other 128K? The wierd thing is that a PS/2 model 60 also has 1 Meg. on it, but POST shows that it tests all 1024K. As per the usual customs, please e-mail me directly, and I will summarize to the net so all can learn (but "all" doesn't have to see 20 replies!). Thanks, * PS/2-70 = PS/2 model 70 - tom ============================================================================== (Nope, Reply will *not* work. The reason why the IBM PS/2 Model 70 has checked on 896 KB in memory is that itloads its ROM into the rest of the memory. This is one of the reasons for the Mo-del 70 being so fast as ROM chips are generally very slow. So if you need at least one Meg of memory then I suggest that you add more memory to make up the difference. Wayne N. Lattery.
