Dear L. HASKINS Please add to my last message the following; I formatted my HD to be 20 MB and 22 MB drives so that I could have the smallest sectors possible without telling Disc-Master to change the sector size. The docs which came with D-M suggested that some programs might not like finding different sector sizes, although in retrospect, I don't see why not. Also, D-M gave me a different interleave factor which I changed later with one of the programs from the CRS Bulletin Board in Toronto. Since then I have not found the access time to be any better on the benchmark, although I can change it and make it much worse. ********************************************************************* Previous message info repeated below. Disc type ---- 7 Cyl's -------- 615 interleave --- 2 pre-comp ----- 615 (try 0 first) heads -------- 8 Apparently the pre-comp could have been set to 0 and the disc access wud be faster. It is supposed to be a 28 ms drive but currently clocks in at about 33 ms. I'd change it but it currently works so why *fix* it. If I change the Hard Disc Controller to an ARLL then I'll have the opportunity to change it. -------Good Luck------- -------Ross------------ --- * QDeLuxe 1.01 #734 Ross Tucker, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. --- MaS Relayer v1.00.00 Message gatewayed by MaS Network Software and Consulting/HST Internet: ross.tucker@canremote.uucp UUCP: ...!tmsoft!masnet!canremote!ross.tucker
