help me decode compressed TIF files?

Hello out there, I need some information on TIF (Tagged Image File)
formats used by Aldus, makers of Pagemaker and Paint Show. A friend of
mine is working on a program for Logitech and would like to use some
graphics, designed with Paint Show, in the program. We'd appreciate any
help anyone can give us. BTW, we already called Aldus and they refused
to give us any information. I noticed a posting recently on where
to find info on the GIF format, but on checking it out we haven't
gotten anything, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
