<>Software Aspects of Strategic Defense Systems is a set of eight short papers written by Dr. David L. Parnas, which were submitted by him, along with his resignation, to the Panel on Computing in Support of Battle Management. He explains why he thinks that the software portion of SDI will not be trustworthy. The article is very reabable, and thought provoking. I think that everyone would benefit from reading this. Regardless of your beliefs on SDI, the software engineering issues brought up are of very general interest. This article is found in the 1985 Sept.-Oct. (current issue) of American Scientist (the publication of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Socity. It starts on page 432. --henry schaffer
