[comp.sys.ibm.pc] system books on MS-DOS vs. Mac?

s21dcq@gandalf.Berkeley.EDU (Jerry The Fairy Yao) (04/01/89)

I am doing a paper on the relative merits of MS-Dos and Mac OS, but I had a
hard time finding "computer science" books that analyzes the above two
systems in depth _as Operating Systems_(critical assessment of memory
management, job control, i/o, etc.), instead of the million how-to books out
there for business people. Sorta like _the Design of Unix Operating System_
or _the Unix Programming Environment_.

(oh, are they unavailable because they are commercial systems and therefore
trade secret and unavailable to public? I hope not.)

Thanks.

Does anyone know how to convert DBASE 4 files to DBASE 3+.

The manuals are not very explicit, and I can't believe that Ashton
Tate would be so dumb as not to supply a convertion routine.

Thanks

Bruce.
