[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Questions about keyboard, num lock & PS

pihlajamaa@cc.helsinki.fi (Olli Pihlajamaa) (04/02/89)

I would like to remap my AT-style (102 keys) keyboard. I want to do this
because:

-I want to have both the ALT-keys to be the same. In finnish
keyboard for example {,[,],},\-keys are in the same keys as keys
7,8,9,0,right from 0 and because I must use ALT GR (right ALT) to
get those characters (and it's unconvenient for me). So I want
to get my left ALT to mean the same than the ALT GR.

-I don't like "dead" keys (for example in order to get
^,~-characters I must first press the right keys SHIFT+^ and
ALT GR+~ and then press for example SPACE to get those
characters and then the character appears with beep.
	 (Unconvenient again!)

Those were the primary reasons for the remapping. Especially in
programming those unconveniencies are disturbing. I know that in US
keyboard those characters can be got easily, but I want still use
Finnish keyboard -- only with some little enchancements.

Another thing:How to prevent NUM LOCK to be activated when booting the
computer?

And still another thing:Please tell me if there's some difference
beetween ENCAPSULATED POSTSCRIPT and normal postscript. (I couldn't
print from my Harvard Graphics exported PS-files as normal PS-files.)
