Ron Robertson here at Mitre just inherited an AT&T 7300 Unix based PC.
This was a lab pc which currently has no disks or documentation - thus
the inheritance. Since he has no direct access to this newsgroup, I am
posting this on his behalf.
He would like to know
1. if there is a way for him to log on the machine and get access to the
password file so he could change it. (The machine has a 40 MB HD with
unix on it, and when it boots it wants an id and password). Is there some
standard id which will allow him to log on as sysadmin.
2. if the answer to 1 is no. Could someone provide him with a copy of the
disks so he could reformat the hard disk and start over. One company
he contacted wanted $295 for such disks and he would rather avoid the expense.
