[net.music] "Musical Conductors" - Hot New Game Continues

wildbill@ucbvax.UUCP (William J. Laubenheimer) (04/30/84)

Just heard over the radio that Andre Previn has been named as music
director and principal conductor of the L.A. Philharmonic, replacing
Carlo Maria Giulini. Hard to tell whether this is a step up, down,
or sideways, as Previn has built an excellent ensemble in Pittsburgh.
Anybody know where this leaves the Pittsburgh Symphony?

Edo DeWaart, music director of the SF Symphony, is leaving us,
and I haven't heard who his replacement would be. Latest rumor
was Leonard Slatkin of St Louis.

 music in net.music!")
