I'm looking for pointers to software that would allow saving and
restoring portions of the IBMPC graphics screen to/from memory and disk.
(I'm not as interested in printing it.) Source is needed unless the
program is extremely flexible, callable from an executing program,
etc. Even better if it doesn't depend on specific graphics hardware,
or on the hardware restored to being the same as the hardware saved
from. Any and all info appreciated...

I use the frieze program from ZSOFT, part of PCPAINT (did I get the
name right?). It will save, print, load, use print-screen key, and
it provides an interface for other programs to use it. It is pretty
reasonable in price (about $100 and includes a free logitech mouse...
ie logitech distributes it with their mice.)

Hope this helps
