The trouble involves calling a BBS number. Usually with the original ProComm, when the line is busy, you received a msg indicating "BUSY". However, when I'm using ProComm Plus, despite the fact that the line would be busy, and that the msg line for busy would indeed read "BUSY", the msg doesn't come up. I have to press the Escape key to get out of calling, and the msg line would read "REDIAL ABORTED". I have an internal modem, one of the earlier Leading Edges (noise city!!), it is set on COM2, the carrier detect is off, and i have changed only the dialing command from the original settings (to AT L3 DT to reduce volume). Can somebody help me? thanx in advance ... Vincent Lai

ProComm 3.1 is a bogus version. From the examination I made when I came across a copy about two years ago (as well as the file dates), it is probably a hacked beta copy of ProComm 2.4.0. There have also been rumors that 3.1 will wipe your hard disk on October 31st. The latest version of ProComm (not Plus) is 2.4.3, which is a minor update to 2.4.2 (some bugfixes, Ymodem-G, and change of address in the docs). -- {harvard,uunet,ucbvax}!b.gp.cs.cmu.edu!ralf -=-=- AT&T: (412)268-3053 (school) ARPA: RALF@B.GP.CS.CMU.EDU |"Tolerance means excusing the mistakes others make.
