I have a NEC MultiSync monitor with the 9-pin D connector and I would like to know if it is possible to display output from the Video Out (RCA plug) jack of a VCR or video camera. Specifically, if anybody out there knows of any adapters or converters, whether manufactured or homemade, could you please send the info to me? Thank you very much Jim chu2_ltd@uhura.cc.rochester.edu P.O. Box 27918 128.151.224.17 Rochester, NY 14627

The answer is yes, you can hook any composite video source to the NEC Multisync II, BUT it can only be interpreted as MONOCHROME. There are separate analog RGB inputs, and you can tie to each for a red/green/or blue screen or parallel the inputs to get a white screen. To answer your question as you really meant it (I assume): NO, you cannot hook a color composite video signal to the MS II and get a color display. You could do so with a separate RS-170A => RGB converter, but it would cost more than the monitor! You can buy a Samsung or whatever TV/monitor at Crazy Eddies for around $250 that will do what you really want and leave the $500 MS II for its intended purpose... Sorry to be so blunt, but I already learned all this the hard way. -- * Charles Lord ..!decvax!mcnc!ecsvax!cjl Usenet (old) * * Cary, NC cjl@ecsvax.UUCP Usenet (new) * * #include <std.disclamers> cjl@ecsvax.BITNET Bitnet * * #include <cutsey.quote> cjl@ecsvax.uncecs.edu Internet *
