Does anyone know of (or have??) a program that will allow me to store the complete contents of a floppy as a single file on my hard drive so taht i can reconstruct the files and directories on the floppy at a later time? THANX for any replies in advance.... /cheers! ______________________________________________________________________________ Shawn Koppenhoefer CS C&O, University of Waterloo, Canada N2L 3G1 _ _ sekoppenhoef@waterloo { .CSNET or .CDN or .EDU } < Klein bottle for sale... enquire within -

In UNIX I use find and cpio to do this osrt of function. About 2 weeks ago I collected MSDOS versions of these 2 packages from comp.binaries.ibm.pc, though I haven't had time to download these to my XT yet. The command should be something like: find a:\ -print | cpio -och > c:\file.sav I can't gaurantee it, but this sounds like what you want. >______________________________________________________________________________ >Shawn Koppenhoefer CS C&O, University of Waterloo, Canada N2L 3G1 _ _ > sekoppenhoef@waterloo { .CSNET or .CDN or .EDU } < >Klein bottle for sale... enquire within - >---------- *** Learn from other people's mistakes, you can't possibly live long enough to make them all yourself. *** -- Author Unknown >>>>>>>>>Disclaimer: I don't invent them, I just paraphrase 'em! <<<<<<<<< -- Donald St. Denis R&D Department HP-UX Email address: dsd@hpsad Hewlett-Packard Signal Analysis Division Telephone: US (707) 794 4489 Rohnert Park, CA 94928

The DOS utilities from MetaWare (makers of the High C and Professional Pascal compilers) include a "find" for MS/DOS. It is a handy tool for all sorts of file manipulation including backups (it can write multiple input files into a single "tar" format file and even split across multiple diskettes for making hard disk backups). They are located in Santa Cruz, CA... I don't have the phone number handy.

This program, available via anonymous ftp from Simtel20, will store the diskette image into a file which you can later restore to another floppy or send over a modem.
