[comp.sys.ibm.pc] DSBACKUP Needed! also a way to recover unformated paritions

rogers@falcon.SRC.Honeywell.COM (Brynn Rogers) (04/25/89)

Due to brain damage I managed to erase the partion area of my disk.
Luckly I had just backed up my c: partion a couple days ago.
Most everything else (about 50 meg) came from the simtel, or I have it
on floppys.

Useing speedstore I was generaly cleaning things up ( I have a 120 meg
Maxtor; 4 30 meg partitions to play with) reformatting one partition at
a time (I have one empty to save copys in) and I got carried away and
formatted my bootable partition (I had it copied to F:)
surprise, surprise, everything is gone.

The backup I made using DSBACKUP has everything I care about on it,
INCLUDING MY ONLY COPY OF DSBACKUP. (smart, eh?)

DSBACKUP is a shareware program given to me by a friend, and I can't reach
him, and I can't find it on the simtel, and I am starting to panic.

can anyone tell me how to fix it, or find DSBACKUP?

I was seriously considering getting DISK TECHNITION (advanced) tonight, does
anyone know how well it works, or if it would fix this type of problem?
(the 140 bucks it sells for is a little steep for me, If I couldn't replace
the data this would be a review of that product, as it is, I just blew
a couple days.)
