[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Serial port vs modem, divorce proceedings

dor@beach.cis.ufl.edu (Douglas R. Oosting) (04/25/89)

Thanks to all who tried to give advice (including Keith Peterson, maintainer
of the simtel20 archives) that I could not mail back to (retarded mailer)
BUT we still have this problem.

The modem works just fine with serial card 'A.' With card 'B'
however, the modem doesnt want to acknowledge the reset command from
my program. ProComm works just fine. The port addressess are correct,
the IRQ line is set properly, there isnt a two-port conflict...its not
out-of-date software (asynchronous routines by Phil Burns, PibTerm 4.1)

Sigh...

Are there any other hints out there or am I stuck writing my own driver?
(Bwaaa hah ha!!)
Thanks in advance...

Do you drop DTR before sending the reset? I've found, at least using a Hayes
modem that I needed to drop DTR before sending the "+++" to put the modem in
local command state.
