Hey there netters... How many people out there have gone through the exercise of upgrading their XT motherboard with a '286 board? When I started this, it seemed as simple as buying a '286 board, an XT-size 200W supply, and just swapping them... HA! I started this whole charade in January, have gone through two vendors, umpteen trips through UPS, countless AT&T calls, and I STILL don't have a working unit. Thank goodness I did not let go of my XT board right away. I am not a neophyte of PC hardware or software either. While I'm not an EE by trade, I'm no stranger to digital design. Has anyone else out there had an impossible time, or has this process been smooth for most people? What I'm finally doing is having the vendor put together a "bare-bones" unit with case, pwr supply, floppy card/drive, and motherboard. I will just plug in the rest (keybd, video, other cards). They will test the peices together as a system before sending it back to me. If I'd known my luck would be this bad (to the point of seemingly defying laws of physics), I would have done this long ago... Too bad really, this motherboard accepts up to 4M of RAM, and the RAM above 640K (on the motherboard) can be used either as Extended or Expanded memory without any other cards. Seemed like a good deal at the time... David Yon
