The January 1986 issue of Technology Review has an interesting article concerning Artificial Intelligence. To quote the front cover: "After 25 years Artificial Intelligence has failed to live up to its promise and there is no evidence that it ever will." The article is "Why Computers May Never Think Like People" written by Hubert and Stuart Dreyfus. I *strongly* suggest reading this article. Some important issues are raised about expert systems in particular. Sincerely, A. Remy Malan P.S. This article is very easy to read as it does not delve into the nuts and bolts but rather concentrates on the global aspects. I think that *everyone* (e.g. scientists, engineers & managers) could benefit!
