I run a "hitchhiker" UUCP site on my personal IBM that can handle both mail and news. But neither my site or my host site can do anon-FTPing. Is there a way to acess the libraries stored on FTP sites without using FTP? I know Simtel-20 has a file server set up, and am aware of how to use that one. Are there other file servers set up for other sites? Is there such a thing as a super-file-server? One that will take the name of a site and a list of commands and then anon-FTP to it and pass along the commands for you? Then will mail you any files it has downloaded along with a transcript of the session? This would be an interesting project if no one has done it yet (albeit a rather large one). Any info you can give me on getting to anon-FTP sites through file servers or some other method would be greatly appreciated. Reply by mail or followup to the news if you feel others will benifit from the reply. Anything I receive that is useful, I will summarize and post to the net. -- = Paul Gauthier: {uunet, utai, watmath}!dalcs!iisat!brains!paulg = = Send all binary mail to: ...!iisat!brains!binaries = = Cerebral Cortex BBS: (902)462-7245 300/1200 24h/7d N81 =

I also need to be able to have FTP access to sites such as Simtel20, but have no FTP ability. First of all, how are you doing FTP from a PC, and second, what or how do I access Simtel's file s rver?
