[comp.sys.ibm.pc] printing greek characters

john@ecsvax.UUCP (John Hogan) (05/04/89)

I would like to be able to print all the Classical Greek characters
on an HP LaserJet II. I am using an IBM PC AT running WordPerfect
5.0. My display adapter is a Hercules Monochrome graphics adapter,
although I could purchase a VGA adapter and compatible monitor if
necessary. I could also switch to Wordstar version 5.

The Greek character set must include all the (superscripted)
breathing marks and accents (including circumflex).
I would prefer to have iota subscripts as subscripts and not
printed as separate characters.
Of course the IBM secondary ASCII character set is insufficient.

I am sure someone has put these pieces together, but I do have some
specific questions: Which font cartridges or soft fonts will I need
for the LaserJet? I have looked at the Pacific Data Fonts 25-in-1
cartridge, but it does not appear to include accents and breathing
marks in the Greek character set. I have also looked at
EXACT (an equation processor from Technical Support Software).
This seems a little hard to use, and rather expensive (over $500
including all the pieces).

If I do need soft fonts, how much memory will I need in the LaserJet?
