Can anyone recommend a book that explains the registers in VGA cards, and how to set cards in various graphic modes. I do not care if the book has information on graphics programming or not, I am just looking for a good VGA hardware reference. "Programmer's Guide to the EGA and VGA Cards", by Richard F. Ferraro, Addison-Wesley 1988, $26.95, ought to fill the bill very well (maybe more than you want--it's 600 pages long).
