Ladies and Gentlemen, I am trying to use COM3 and COM4 with Kermit on a PC-AT running MS-DOS 3.30. The two ports are on a 4 port DigiBoard COM/4 board, together with COM1 and COM2. As to per phone instructions from someone at DigiBoard I set the addresses for the ports to 3E8 and 2E8 and everything else as instructed (COM1 and COM2 are on the same board at the standard addresses 3F8 and 2F8 and work fine). When I try the MODE command, it works for COM1 and COM2 but not for COM3 and COM4 despite the fact that the manual says COM3 and COM4 are supported by MODE. The error message is exactly the same as the one I get when I try MODE for COM1 and the port doesn't exist. From this I have concluded that I must be using the wrong hardware addresses for COM3 and COM4. Similarly when I try set port in kermit to COM3 or COM4, it also gives me an error message. I have checked, the version of kermit (2.31) that I use does contain strings for COM1, COM2, COM3, and COM4, and again I therefore conclude that it would support the ports if it could find them. Am I missing something here, or am I just using the wrong addresses? Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. AG
