This question really would belong in comp.sys.ibm.compatibles, but this group was the closest I could find. I have recently seen a discussion among statisticians on the merits of various PC hardware in running heavy PC statistical packages. It stood out for me that the Dell and Everex machines seemed to get best reviews for _that_ application. I will need to face buying a fairly heavy duty PC, so I thought I would ask you, good people, if you concur, or if you have knowledge of better experiences (quality, speed, compatibility) with other brands. One thing I would like to mention is that I _am_ interested in running OS/2, and (most likely, unless someone here knows a reason to the contrary) in the 386 architecture. I have heard that running OS/2 on a 386 may be a problem with compatibles. If you would like a summary of comments I may receive mailed to you directly, please send a request via email, preferably with the subject header COMP SUMMARY REQ; I plan, however, to post here a summary of whatever I may get via email. Thank you in advance for any comments. ---- Stan Olejniczak Internet: slores@umiami.miami.edu University of Miami UUCP: {uunet!gould}!umbio!solejni Miami, Florida, USA BITNET: SLORES@UMIAMI Voice: (305)-547-6571 FAX:305-547-4612 My opinions cannot possibly represent the views of anyone else!
