A friend of mine's harddisk crashed recently and we have been unable to restore it. He got it from a place that buys in volume and didn't get any information on the harddrive. All the information given: 32 Meg Harddisk 286-10Mhz by DVI Technologies Award Bios I am booting up with DOS 4.01 Is there any good harddisk diagnostic/low-level format program that I could ftp? (The diagnostic progams I've used marks the entire disk with error flags) Any help would be appreciated. ----- A Sun c9c-ct@dorothy.Berkeley.EDU ucbvax!dorothy!c9c-ct

Since you mentioned that the disk utilities which you have tried have marked ALL sectors as bad, maybe the controller is the problem. Bad controllers can cause bizarre symptoms which point to the disk being bad. The first thing anyone should try is another controller.
