If it truly is a disk crash, you can't reformat it. It is now garbage. You may however be lucky enough to use it in an AT, this way the head(s) that were wiped out can be ignored by using a smaller capacity type(ie fewer heads). Most people may only think they have a CRASH, but if it did't make alot of noises chances are your heads didn't touch the platter.
