[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Problem using VDISK

I'm having trouble using VDISK.SYS; my (386) machine has 19 MB of
extended memory, and VDISK will only let me use 8 MB of it.

The statement

device=c:\dos\vdisk.sys 8000 256 256 /E
works fine.

But if I have the statement

device=c:\dos\vdisk.sys 9000 256 256 /E

in config.sys, the message 'divide error' prints on the
screen and the machine locks up.  

I'm using AT&T MS-DOS 3.30a.

Has anyone seen this before or know of a fix?
