/* ---------- "MS Windows 286 and Extended/Expande" ---------- */ Could somebody tell me if MicroSoft Windows 286 on an AT can make direct use of any AT extended or LIM expaned memory. Thanks in advance. -- Samuel Lam {alberta,watmath,uw-beaver,cs.ubc.ca}!ubc-cs!van-bc!skl ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I personally use Windows/286 version 2.1 at home on my machine. Microsoft includes with Windows a program called SMARTDRV.SYS. This program permits you to use "extended memory" as a cache for Windows. Microsoft also provides programs for using some LIM spec boards setup to run as "expanded memory". I am using a AST Rampage 286 board setup as expanded memory myself. They also have a program called HIMEM.SYS that lets you use an extra 64k of extended memory with the main 640k or RAM below one meg. *********************************************************************** <This information is provided by an individual and is not nor should be construed as being provided by Radio Shack or Tandy Corp.
