I have gotten the supposed 4.01 update to DOS 4, but am still having
problems. I've never noticed any problems with its EMS usage, although
I've heard there are bugs in this area. Most of my problems occur on
PC/AT clones.

(1) When booting, if I use BUFFERS /X or FASTOPEN /X (to use expanded mem)
the computer locks up hard (read that: cold boot to fix it) when the
CONFIG.SYS is finished being processed (i.e. when command.com is
loaded). This happens in computers with a RampageAT and IBM's 2meg
XMA card.
(2) DOSSHELL locks up the computer always.

(2) occurs only on our AT clones, XT's (true blue and clones) work fine.
(2) does not happen on a true-blue AT.
Is there another update available? The computerland and ibm people here
just say 'oh, its not compatible enough', but these clones have never had
a problem with any software - applications or system stuff.
