[comp.sys.ibm.pc] X for the IBM PC -- are clients possible?

caromero@phoenix.Princeton.EDU (C. Antonio Romero) (06/08/89)

I recently heard that an X server had become available for the IBM PC.
However, my information was a bit sketchy, and I really wasn't paying
attention then because it really didn't matter much then. But now I
need to know a few things from people who have looked into it or tried
it:

o Can the PC run both an X server and a client or clients,
running under DOS? 286 Unix (386 are not an option)? OS/2?

o Is the PC really anything more than an X terminal when running the X
	server?

o Who makes it, and what roughly does it cost?

o Is performance acceptable on an 8 MHz or 10 MHz 286 w/ EGA?

My boss is thinking about trying to port an X application over to a PC,
and I'm trying to find out what's possible.

Thanks for anything you can tell me...
