I am trying to locate a 32-bit, microchannel add-on memory board (4 Meg) for a 20 megahertz PS/2 Model 80. The IBM boards are a bit pricey..does anyone have anyone have any experience (either good or bad) with other vendors' products? In particular, I have been considering something like an AST Advantage 2/386 with "low-cost" SIMMS from one of the mail order places. Is this asking for trouble? Any review articles that I might be able to read? Vince Guarna University of Illinois (217) 244-0071 guarna@uicsrd.csrd.uiuc.edu

It takes three little daughtercards each with 2megs, for a total of six megs possible. The thing died when an IBM repairman replaced the motherboard of my 16 Mhz Model 80. It took three days, four service calls and a near resignation on the part of the serviceman before it worked again. A couple of weeks ago it died again. This was after our on-site prepaid warranty ran out- -but the board itself had a carry-in warranty. It took a week to get a new one ("they're back ordered to Jupiter - they all die"), but luckily it works now. And I so far have not been able to get another source for the little daughtercards. Our computer store sells them (2 megs) for $984. So IBM cards, at least this kind, suck also. If anyone knows of a source of daughtercards for the 6450367, please post the info.
