I recently installed a MANZANA 3.5" external drive system on my Tandy
3000 and it worked quite well. It uses a special "MUX" board that goes
in series with your existing FD controller, giving you the ability to
use and access a 3.5" drive.

The MANZANA system lets you hook up a third floppy drive to your system
even if your machine only supports two FD drives. The manuals that came
with the kit, listed a whole bunch of different machines that you could
connct it up to. They had pretty good installation instructions too.

It worked quite well for me. It is a bit pricey, but it works pretty
    good.

Manzana makes two kits, a 720k drive system and a 1.44 meg drive system.
Tandy was listing the MANZANA MDQT External 3.5" 720k drive kit under
catalogue number 90-2134 for $410.00 in the 1989 computer catalogue.

"You were in the Clone Wars!", said Luke excitedly.
"Yes", replied Obi Wan, "I was a DOS programmer. But that was before the dark
 times, before OS2."

I have a Compaticard from MicroSolutions, DeKalb, Ill. Is that where you are?
It works great and does just what you want. Give them a call...
