I have a project that I am working on that I am implementing as an extended BIOS and I have some questions: Is an extra ROM that is called during boot and extened BIOS? (that is what I want to do and am refering to here). 1) What is the exact convention for an extended BIOS? The id bytes in the beginning of the ROM and the jump address. 2) What are the steps in the boot process and where is the extra ROM called? What happens if there are no peripherials (I think int18 or 19 is called which in tru blue is basic. if there are no peripherials I still want to run). 3) How do I reserve memory for my program? There is a BIOS call to return the extended BIOS memory size and pointers. How is this assigned in the first place? 4) Anything else to watch out for? I am designing a card with some stuff that wants to run on either a bare motherboard and do its thing and also if the machine is a normal PC, it will run more or less in the background. Thanks much.... "The death of God left the angels in a strange position." _____ | | Johnathan Vail | tegra!N1DXG@ulowell.edu |Tegra| (508) 663-7435 | N1DXG@145.110-,145.270-,444.2+,448.625- -----
